The Howard L. Lanier, III Scholarship

Howard L. Lanier, III was the youngest of four children and raised in a family that supported his scholastic endeavors, as well as, his athletic ambitions.  Howard’s personable demeanor and smile was captivating to most he came in contact with.  His sudden, untimely passing in March 2016 left an endless sadness upon his family and community.  However, even through his passing, Howard’s accomplishments have left an everlasting impact.

The Howard L. Lanier III, Community Development Corporation was established in 2017 to not only honor Howard’s legacy but to continue to push forward his community ambitions.  Our mission is to nurture the future of young people through education, health, and community engagement.  Thus, the Howard L. Lanier, III scholarship was created to support a young person that has excelled academically while making a lasting impact on his/her community.

It is a $4,000 stipend to be awarded to a graduating high school senior who will be attending a post-secondary school in the fall. For a full description of the scholarship criteria and application, see below.
